The Positive Weight Loss Approach

By Ronnie H. Williams VI

Once you have made up your mind to lose weight, you should make that commitment and go into it with a positive attitude. We all know that losing weight can be quite a challenge. In fact, for some, it can be downright tough. It takes time, practice and support to change lifetime habits. But it's a process you must learn in order to succeed. You and you alone are the one who has the power to lose unwanted pounds.

Think like a winner, and not a loser - - remember that emotions are like muscles and the ones you use most grow the strongest. If you always look at the negative side of things, you'll become a downbeat, pessimistic person. Even slightly negative thoughts have a greater impact on you and last longer than powerful positive thoughts.

Negative thinking doesn't do you any good, it just holds you back from accomplishing the things you want to do. When a negative thought creeps into your mind, replace it reminding yourself that you're somebody, you have self-worth and you possess unique strengths and talents.Contemplate what lies ahead of you. Losing weight is not just about diets. It's about a whole new you and the possibility of creating a new life for yourself. Investigate the weight loss programs that appeal to you and that you feel will teach you the behavioral skills you need to stick with throughout the weight-loss process. First you should look for support among family and friends. It can be an enormous help to discuss obstacles and share skills and tactics with others on the same path. You might look for this support from others you know who are in weight loss programs and you can seek guidance from someone you know who has lost weight and kept it off. .

There are success stories across the country today. On television and in newspapers, magazines and tabloids about people who have miraculously lost untold pounds and kept it off. In all instances they say their mental attitude as well as their outlook on life has totally changed.

Diets and weight loss programs are more flexible now than they once were and there are many prepared foods already portioned out. They are made attractive and can be prepared in a matter of minutes. Low-fat and low-calorie foods are on shelves everywhere.

You will probably need to learn new, wiser eating skills. You will want a weight loss regimen that gives you some control, rather than imposing one rigid system. Look for one that offers a variety of different eating plans, so you can choose the one that's best for you.

Keep in mind, too, that your weight loss program will most likely include some physical exercises. Look at the exercising aspect of your program as fun and recreation and not as a form of grueling and sweaty work. The fact is that physical fitness is linked inseparable to all personal effectiveness in every field. Anyone willing to take the few simple steps that lie between them and fitness will shortly begin to feel better, and the improvement will reflect itself in every facet of their existence

Doctors now say that walking is one of the best exercises. It helps the total circulation of blood throughout the body, and thus has a direct effect on your overall feeling of health. There are things such as aerobics, jogging, swimming and many other exercises which will benefit a weight loss program. Discuss the options with your doctor and take his advice in planning your exercise and weight loss program.

What Is The Buzzing Vagina About?

Okay, here me out on this..... I am sitting at my desk and I feel this faint vibrating feeling coming from my vaginal area. Okay, at first, I thought I was sitting on my cell phone and I started looking for it. But my cellphone was on my desk. Considering that I had went swimming I thought a bug might had crawled up in there and started buzzing around, so I went and cleaned myself out, with no resolution to what it was. I don't know if it is life-threatening, I don't feel sick, nor do I have any type of infections at this moment. (I recently had a combination of a bladder infection and kidney infection from my over consumption of drinking pop.) Well, as I am wondering why all of a sudden I am vibrating, this annoying feeling of wanting to shut it off was going to be a quest.  I looked on line and found a lot of forums of women explaining their buzzing vaginas. But here is the thing, it is not just a woman problem, men are experiencing the same feelings in their lower regions. I remember an episode of Everybody Loves Raymond, where Raymond had mentioned he had a vibrating feeling in his pocket but no cell phone. This seems to be an annoying epidemic with no true answers. Well, since I have a journal of what is going on in my body, I can tell you what I think is going on.  Since I am not sure if I had or currently have Pelvic Floor Dysfuction, commonly known as PFD,  I am going to go over things that I know.  First according to my journal I have had a combination of a kidney infection and a bladder infection which sent stabbing pains up and down the left side of my body. I took some antibiotics and ate tons of dried cranberries and cranberry sauce, which I wrote about in my previous post. Then I had an unusual amount of dehydration so I was drinking lots of water to flush out the rest of the bacteria. Okay no buzzing in my vagina here. Then all of a sudden the buzzing is very active while I am sitting on the couch, and keeps doing it in five second intervals.  I was thinking that maybe it's because I stop drinking orange juice and I am lacking Vitamin C. So I go out and buy some orange juice with calcium and it starts to slow down the buzzing. Instead of constantly coming, it has actually stopped for awhile. It comes and goes, but far and few in between now. After I drink all the orange juice I see a major change in my body. The buzzing is not annoying anymore. It is faint, but the problem is that it is still there.  Then I had a thought, "what if the antibiotics didn't totally get rid of the infection?" At the time I thought about this, I felt sluggish, I felt a little constipated, I had ate at a bar & grill with my husband when the buzzing started again. As my grandmother would always tell me, clean out my system when I am feeling sick. So I went and got my Dieter's Tea, which in my house is the cure-all next to Benedryl. If my theory is correct, I just need to detox my body and get rid of any thing that may be making me feel sick.  So I did it, I made the Dieter's Tea around 9pm and it started working it's way through my system by 4am. I go to the restroom and do the first dump, and if you know what detox mean, this should not shock you. I looked in the toilet and I see a lot of fat and my dinner from hours before. As weird as it seems, it was a couple of hours later and I felt really good. I don't have the buzzing anymore and I have been detoxed. As of this post, 10/27/11 it has been four days and no buzzing. I am not going to say that this is the cure all, but at least the buzzing is gone. The only cool thing I liked about the buzzing was when I was in the bath tub soaking and I thought I was in a Jacuzzi....lol.

If you are experiencing the buzzing in your lower area, since both men and women are experiencing it, we'll just say the lower area, please do not be shy and talk to your doctor about it. As of this post, no one has reported what happened at their doctor's office or any good remedies, online or offline. Of course some people will laugh when they hear what you just said, but print this post and let them know, I'm not laughing and neither are the hundreds of people who are suffering from the buzzing.  Please keep me posted with your own experiences, you are not alone, and it is good to know that your lower area is not a tuning fork for Aliens.  No one is trying to contact you...lol.

UPDATE: As of today November 4th, 2011- I was experiencing some constipation a couple of days ago while I was sitting on the couch watching my favorite shows when I felt my stomach discomfort. While I was paying close attention to the discomfort of my constipation I felt an onset of vibrations in my vaginal area again. It was very faint but it was there. I was paying close attention to where I thought the bowels were in my intestines and I got a really bad lower back ache while it was going through it's cycle. So I can safely say that this buzzing is triggered by constipation, and that is why the detoxification in my previous post was so successful.  I hope this works for you, and please keep me posted!

Magic Weight Loss

I weighed myself today and I am so excited to let you know that I weigh 249/250lbs. The dial kept stopping between these two numbers. I didn't do anything different except added a little more collard greens to my meals. I love collard greens and I love being back at home in Ohio, my sister make great food but I make mine more healthier.  So here is my collard green recipe.

Kora's Collard Greens

1 can of plain collard greens (or frozen)
3 tablespoons of Italian dressing
1 dash of pepper

Mix all ingredients together and simmer on medium high heat for about 7-10 minutes. You can also microwave on high for about 5 minutes. Serve with a good slice of  warm cornbread.

THE CRANBERRY SAUCE

I have much respect for the sauce "cranberry sauce" that is. Last night I was feeling really sick from some severe back pains that struck me down like lightening. You would have thought I bench-pressed 400 lbs of weights with my backside. I went to webmd.com to see if I could diagnose my problem and low and behold, it gave me too many options. So I was telling my Mom about my pains and she swears by the sauce. She eat it everyday with everything. I personally only thought it was good for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. Well, consider that I am out of town visiting my Mom, and I was reluctant to go to E.R. although I maybe one ibuprofen away from that visit to E.R. I ate about three tablespoons of the cranberry sauce and drunk about 20 ounces of water with it. Talk about in a matter of minutes...literally within 30 minutes my back started to feel a little better. I mean I could actually reach up in the air and twist my side a little more without resistence. So I too will be eating more cranberry sauce with more of my meals and not just for holidays. But as they say, Mom's know best...thank you Mommy I love you for that advice! (and I promise I will not make fun of you and cranberry sauce anymore...)

5 Foods That Can Trigger a Stroke

5 Foods That Can Trigger a Stroke <<< --- click here for more info

Few things feel more terrifying and random than a stroke, which can strike without warning. And fear of stroke -- when a blood vessel in or leading to the brain bursts or is blocked by a blood clot, starving brain cells of oxygen and nutrients -- is well founded. After all, stroke is the number-three killer in the U.S., affecting more than 700,000 people each year. Here are five foods that cause the damage that leads to stroke.

THE NAKED TRUTH!

I am so excited to tell you that today I weighed myself and I have went down to 251 pounds as of 09/19/11. I almost cried when I saw the scales tip. As of today I have lost a total of 51 pounds, and a total of 16 pounds from my last entry (262). The great thing about it is that I am only 49 lbs from my goal of 200. I am out of the sixties and into the fifties. The crazy part of it all was that I didn't know that weight had came off. I have been eating dried cranberries last week with everything from cereal to my cornbread dressing. I was eating them like raisins, and truth be told I love them as much as I love raisins.

Also, I have changed the way I weigh myself.  So I weigh myself in the morning right before I get in the shower I strip off all my clothes and I make sure I use the bathroom first (for some reason I think urine weighs about a ton in the morning) and I weigh myself. The naked truth. I want to know what I weigh without clothes or anything else that could distract my actual weight from being read properly. I'm sooooo bananas right now that my insides are jumping just from telling you all this.

Last but not least....I do excercises that make me feel good. I'm not jumping around doing Zumba, but I am doing jumping jacks, I want to master doing 100 of them. That is my goal, I am now up to 25 a day, of course not all at the same time, but I do 25 of them.  Also I do a lot of stretching, I can hear all these 41 year old bones cracking in places I never knew of.  It's like I am exploring my body from different angles and sides.  I will be uploading pictures real soon, I need somebody to take them for me, so they can get my good side lol....

Well ya'll enjoy your day and look forward to updating you with more information about what I am doing. TTYL!!! xoxo smooches xoxo

How Beyonce Knowles Lost 20 Pounds In Under 2 Weeks

Beyonce used a very unusual diet called the Master cleanse diet (also called the maple syrup or Lemon juice diet) to shed 20 pounds quickly.

Beyonce had to lose 20 pounds in 2 weeks so she could look more like the slimmer Deena Jones at the age of 16 (Deena Jones is a character Beyonce played in the dreamgirls movie)

"Normally they'd change your make-up or your clothes but I wanted to go the extra mile," Beyonce is quoted as telling China Daily. "Back in the sixties, models like Twiggy were popular and I knew Deena would have been thin then, so even though I really love eating, it was necessary to lose weight really fast because we shot Deena at 16 and Deena at 36 two weeks apart."

(Continue reading below to see what Beyonce ate on the Diet)

The Master Cleanse Diet is basically a fasting diet where you eat no solid foods and... You have to drink 6-12 glasses of water mixed with lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper for 10 - 40 days and...

That's what Beyonce did on the master cleanse diet to lose 20 pounds in 14 days and according to some reports... Beyonce cheated on the diet by eating fish, vegetables, and protein drinks... "I had to lose it really fast, so I fasted and only drank liquids and [had] fish and protein shakes and vegetables" but...
Beyonce quickly gained back all the weight she lost on the Master Cleanse diet and Beyonce admitted she was very cranky while on the diet...

"As soon as it was over, I gained the weight back - I ate everything when it was over...the second I looked at a donut, it came back! I gained back all the weight, even the weight I didn't want to come back!"

The Master Cleanse Diet was originally made just for cleansing and detoxification of your body - the rapid weight loss is just a positive side effect.

My Husband

OMG! I had no idea that I was sabotaging my weight loss plans. My husband works primarily evenings and he comes home ready to eat dinner. Usually he will come home, take his shower, unwind and is ready to eat and watch tv with the remainig hours he has left before midnight. Well low and behold he also comes in hand with three krispy kreme doughnuts because our neighborhood gas station allows you to buy two get one free. He know I need a bottle of Dasani water so instead of buying a six pack he buys only one. I was not aware that my night cap consisted of a 64 ounce Dasani and not one, but two Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. Oh the shame! So I cleansed and detoxed my body with dieters tea and started over. With in two days I have shed 5 whole pounds! So here is the numbers........270 lbs. That is a plus for me, I am still under 300lbs and I have no intentions of going back to 300. My goal is to at least make it to 200lbs by December 2011.

I have faith! I can do it! I feel sorry for KK because they are really going to feel the big dent in their pockets now that I know this sneaky sabotaging villian against my body.

Here is my weight loss history:

SEP 22, 10- 271 BMI 46.5

OCT 03,10- 268 BMI 46

OCT 06, 10- 267.4 BMI 45.9

NOV 03, 10- 264.5- BMI 45.4

DEC 31, 10- 265.0 BMI 45.5

JAN 24, 11- 264.3 BMI 45.4

JAN 07, 11- 262 BMI 45

JAN 19, 11- 262.6 BMI 45.1

JAN 28, 11- 266.3 BMI 45.7

FEB 10, 11- 268 BMI 46.0

MAR 07, 11- 275 BMI 47.2

MAR 16, 11- 275 BMI 47.2

MAR 18, 11- 273 BMI 46.9

MAR 24, 11- 270 BMI 46.3 (YAY ME!)

On March 18th, I detoxed myself with dieter's tea to remove this sluggish feeling I was having, and I was right, I was full of Sh1t! I will keep you posted on my triumphs and tribulations as they come or when I remember, whichever is greater..lol. In the mean time, I am going to the gym three times a week to swim and I have this routine that I do that make me feel like I am 125lbs in the water, but the minute I get out of the water, reality reminds me that I am 270lbs and losing...... one pound at a time. If you feel like you can't lose a pound, drink plenty of water and eat apples all day for one day. It worked for me and it might work for you. The results is what you need to get through that plateau. Make sure you do it on a day you have nothing to do or you will wish you were at home when the pound sheds off. Until next time.....

I'm Jumping Jacks!

Today I was going to do some jumping jacks and I was having a hard time starting. So my husband walked up behind me and said, "let's do it, I will do them with you. How many are you doing 15?" I was like, "uh, yea, okay, 15" So he started counting the jumps, and I was happy that we were going to reach 15 real soon, and then he started counting a second set of numbers and I was like, "oh my gosh, are you serious?" My legs buckled by the time he got to seven and my stomach made it's way from out of my pants and started flapping everwhere. That is what I dreaded! It was like a balloon under pressure. Everything just went pop by the time I made it to 15 again. On the flip side, I just did 30 whole jumping jacks! I am definitely going to push for another 30 tomorrow. I will let you know how it works out!

As for my whole day.....

I used my stregnth bands and did a few stretches to arch my back and work on my bat wings (those things that swing under your arms. As for what I ate today, I had a nice glass of orange juice to start, a two bite mini cupcake, and some raspberry lemonade to wash it down. I also had about 6 Raisinettes (chocolate covered raisins) then for dinner which was around 3pm, I made some steamed green beans, some mash potatoes and a lean thin cut sirloin steak with onions and green peppers. I had skipped lunch all together because it is Sunday, and I got up late so my day was already half gone. For snack, I made me a glass of White Hot Chocolate with whip cream and, right around 9pm I ended my day with a cup of Hot Tea w/French Vanilla cream. The whole day was wacky considering that it was a very cold day. Overall, it was a good day.

Thanks Tony Little For The Gazelle

I forgot to add this post a long time ago, forgive me. One of my biggest challenges was trying to do jumping jacks while weighing 300 and something pounds. When I started jumping jacks I could barely do two of them. Well as of this post January 7, 2011- I can do 15 jumping jacks non-stop. My goal is to do 300 hundred jumping jacks. There is definitely magic in the number 3. As you progress in your stregnth training, you will see what I am talking about. My other favorite apparatus to work with is- Tony Little's Gazelle. OMG!!! Almost any weight size can get on this machine. I have had my Gazelle since 1998 and I love it, my family love it, and my husband's knees love it! It was a cool product at first. Then it became a over-priced clothes hanger, along with my Total Gym (Chuck Norris) which became our overly priced ironing-board. I never knew what the power of both of these machines could really do. Sadly, I no longer own my Total Gym, but it is on my wishlist. Third but not least, you have to get some Yoga moves in. I try to incorporate Yoga time at least four to five times a week.  Trust me, when you learn how to Yoga while on the floor, you will appreciate the moves in bed.... I never knew my legs could bend back that far (lol).

My Morning Craving

This morning I woke up with a craving for Spinach Dip. I still do not know what my dream was about, but before I get started I will give you the recipe- Here is the recipe:

1 small package of frozen spinach (the block size)
1 tub (16oz) of french onion dip (low fat)
1 small package of Hidden Valley Ranch (powder)
1 1/2 cups of low-fat shredded cheddar cheese

Thaw out the frozen spinach and place in a medium mixing bowl with all the above ingredients and mix until well blended. Refrigerate until ready to eat.

Okay, back to my thoughts. This morning I woke up with a craving for Spinach Dip. It was like an epiphany to me. All I could think was, "is it only just for parties? Why does it have to be an appetizer at a restaurant?" Well, I told myself, "today it is going to be my mid-afternoon lunch" So I prepared myself a bowl of Cheerios and grabbed me a cup of my favorite O.J. to start my day.

By the way, one of my favorite drinks in the morning is Simply Best Orange Juice w/ Pulp. For some reason, my mind and body believes I am eating an orange for breakfast. They have a pineapple and orange combination that sends my body into a tizzy. So every morning I make sure that I have a small glass, about 4oz of my favorite orange juice. On special days, I add some ginger-ale to my orange juice and make me a mock Mimosa. One word, "ummmmmmm"

My Mom Was Shocked!

My Mom called me the other day, and we had a long discussion about my cereal choices. I tried to explain to my Mom, that I love my Lucky Charms. Who by the way is the makers of ta dah.... Cheerios, my arch nemesis! (Okay short story about my arch nemesis. One time when I was younger, I say about 12 or 13, my Mom bought some Cheerios home. Well, I wanted Captain Crunch for breakfast. I hated Cheerios with a passion. They were bland, they didn't have any sugar, and surely no prizes inside. It was the ultimate adult cereal next to raisin bran. Well, I took it upon myself to add sugar to my Cheerios and my Mom was so mad at me, that she dumped it, and made a new bowl without sugar. I just sat there looking at the Cheerios. I was really mad, not only did they keep spelling OOOOO's but there was no other letter in that bowl. Normally, she wouldn't of dumped my cereal, but it was because I was being rebellious and thought she wouldn't do anything about it. I guess you can say, I ruined her start of the day, so she ruined mine. So this is why I hate Cheerios.)

Well, Mom, guess what? I took a picture of Cheerios Strawberry Yogurt Cereal and Lucky Charms, and did a side by side comparison. Not much of a difference when it come to being health conscience. Since General Mills make great cereal, these two made it on my list. I also forgive the makers of Cheerios, because I actually like the Strawberry Yogurt flavored Cheerios. They taste like my childhood past-time favorite Frankenberry. I miss those guys, Frankenberry, Booberry, and Count Chocola. One thing for sure I will never stop chasing the rainbow. I am a Lucky Charm! As for the comparison Mom, see for yourself --->

I Love How I Feel

Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year! 2011 is upon us. Well, one thing I can say I did different is that I didn't make a new year's resolution to lose weight. I actually made a lifelong resolution and I didn't have to lie to myself, or worse, buy a gym membership to the YMCA. Well, yesterday I went to Walmart and bought a home scale. Of course I had been totally against putting one in my bathroom, but paying my doctor almost $200 a visit for follow-ups is getting pretty pricey. Oh by the way, my weigh-ins are going to be dial reads and digital reads. You will be able to tell the difference by the point something (264.3) behind the actual weight. If it's digital, I did it at my doctor's, if it's whole (264), I did it at home. I just wanted to clear that little thing up.

I know that I am losing weight, not only by my clothes, but because people who see me everyday keep telling me that I am. Also, I am wearing 1x in clothes. 1x represents a lot of weight sizes, for me I guess it is a 18/20. Well, whatever the hell it is, it is not a 4x, 3x, or 2x. I still prefer to wear 2x in shirts, due to the (twins) and I also bought some new bras (size 42DD) too. Don't get me wrong, I could of eliminated one of the D's, but, I want to convince my husband they didn't shrink, okay, I wanted to convince myself they didn't skrink...lol.

Oh by the way, I weighed in today at 264. At first I thought, what happened? Then I said, OMG, how great!!! I went through Thanksgiving and Christmas making mass buffets and desserts and didn't gain any weight. Go Kora, go Kora, go, go, go, Kora! Yep, I was able to eat and be merry! Have a wonderful everyday (like my BFF Scooter told me) and live life to the fullest!
